Business Administration Program

The Applied Mechanical Engineering (AME) curriculum at KFUPM is designed to provide a broad and rigorous understanding of core mechanical engineering topics in thermal science, mechanical design, materials science, and manufacturing processes in the first three years of study. During these years, the Applied Mechanical Engineering curriculum aims to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using principles of science and mathematics. In the second semester of the third year, each Applied Mechanical Engineering student is required to undertake a 15-week industrial experience program. Upon completion of their internship, each student is required to submit a formal internship report and give an oral presentation of their internship experience. In the final year, students have the flexibility to choose mechanical engineering electives from a wide range of courses in the areas of thermal fluids, design and dynamics, or materials and manufacturing. The two-semester Capstone Design Project provides each student with the opportunity to integrate their knowledge from the previous three years, exercise their creativity, enhance their individuality, and develop entrepreneurial skills. Employment opportunities for mechanical and electrical engineering graduates from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals have been very good and are expected to improve further as Saudi Arabia’s industrialization accelerates. Large-scale expansions in the petrochemical, chemical process and power generation industries will require an increasing influx of mechanical and electrical engineering graduates. Several ambitious programs in clean water, clean energy, nanotechnology and nuclear power generation will significantly increase the demand for mechanical and electrical engineering graduates in the near and long term.
